Business Signage in Lancashire: What Your Premises Could Be Saying About Your Business

Your business premises make an impression before a customer ever walks through the door. Your signage, windows, entrances and even the blank spaces around your building all contribute to how people see your business.
So instead of simply asking “Do we need a new sign?”, it’s worth asking “What is our premises currently saying about us?”.
In this guide, we’ll look at how you can assess your premises with fresh eyes, identify opportunities for improvement, and understand what those changes could cost.
Look at your premises as a customer
If you see your building every day, it’s easy to stop noticing things. Try approaching it as though you’ve never been there before.
Can you immediately tell what the business is? Can you see the entrance? Is it obvious where you need to go? Does the building look as professional as the business inside?
Your existing signage might be perfectly functional, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s making the most of the opportunity.
Think about the whole customer journey
Once someone has found your building, can they easily find their way around? Think about the questions a first-time visitor might have:
Where do I park? Where is the entrance? Which door do I use? Where is reception? Where do I go from here?
If customers regularly ask these questions, better signage could make their experience much easier.
Good signage isn’t about putting signs everywhere. It’s about providing the right information in the right place.
Look beyond your main sign
Now look at the rest of your premises. Are there large areas of glazing, blank walls or entrance spaces that currently do nothing?
Not every surface needs to be covered in branding. But there may be opportunities you’re overlooking.
Window graphics could improve privacy while reinforcing your brand. A blank wall could become a feature. Internal graphics could make a reception area more welcoming. A side elevation could improve visibility to passing traffic.
The question isn’t “Where can we put our logo?”,
it’s “Could this space be doing something useful?”.

Does your building still reflect your business?
Businesses evolve, but their signage doesn’t always keep up. You might have rebranded, renovated your premises or invested heavily in improving your customer experience, while the signage is still showing an older version of the business.
Your premises are part of your brand. If your business has moved forward, it’s worth asking whether the building has moved forward with it.
How much does business signage cost in Lancashire?
There isn’t a single price for business signage because every project is different.
As a broad guide, moderate signage projects can start in the hundreds of pounds, while larger fabricated, more complex projects can run into the thousands.
The final cost can be affected by:
» Size and quantity
» Materials and finishes
» Illumination
» Design and fabrication
» Fixing methods
» Access to the building
» Installation
Two signs that look similar can therefore have very different costs.
A good quotation should clearly explain what is being recommended and why, rather than simply giving you a number.

Start with the building, not the product
A site survey allows us to look at visibility, customer movement, available spaces, fixing points, access and the surrounding environment.
Sometimes the answer is a new sign. Sometimes it’s a few carefully positioned graphics. And sometimes the best recommendation is to leave something alone.
The aim isn’t to sell you as much signage as possible. It’s to find the opportunities that will actually make a difference.
Take ten minutes to look at your premises
Walk around your building and look at it as if you’ve never visited before.
Ask yourself:
» Can people immediately identify my business?
» Can they easily find the entrance?
» Is it obvious where they need to go?
» Does the building reflect the quality of the business?
» Are there spaces that could communicate something useful?
» Does the signage match our current branding?
» Can people still see us after dark?
You might be surprised by what you notice.
